Hello David's Family

I don't know why but for some reason I put David's name into my browser. I knew David from 1965 until I left Smallfields in 1972(ish). I was a typist and he was in the Tax Department both of us 'bossed' by David Roberts who was a Partner. I used to type David's massive epistles of 7 or 8 hand-written pages and I use to tease him about being so pedantic. For example to a bank he would head the letter Our Client Mr A Bloggs and underneath it would read Your Customer Mr A Bloggs. Technically correct but we used to laugh like mad. He was always so funny. I suppose you know he lived in a mews across Portland Place about 50 yards from the office but somehow on the way home he would take a screwdriver out of his briefcase and fix the hitherto unlit bollard! David Roberts died in 2006 and his eldest daughter Diana died just before him but he was never told. David Roberts adored him and they worked and got on very well together. I am not sure when your David died but I am sure you miss his quick wit and gentleness every day.

Very kind regards
Louise (ex Smallfields)
